Facts
The NHL is the only sports league in the United States that allows players to fight during the game. There has always been a myth that the only reason people go to watch hockey is to watch the fights during the game. Hockey is also one of the fastest sports in the world, and that is because of the development of the hockey skate, and the fact that you skate on ice, which allows you to propell yourself at a high rate of speed. Since it is a really fast sport, there is a lot of injuries caused from players hitting each other while going really fast.

Brian, I didn’t know that the Bruins were part of the “original 6” teams. You said that the NHL was formed in 1927 – such a long time ago! When was the game of hockey actually invented, by whom, and where? If hockey wasn’t invented in this country, how did it get introduced here? Hockey is my favorite “spectator” sport; I love the fast pace, the action, and of course, the fights. How long have you been playing hockey and what position(s) do you play? Let’s hope that Chara is off the injured list real soon! Mrs. A.
ReplyDeleteBrian, as you know I play hockey as well, and I am doing the bruins. I think that they are the best team in the league, and have a very good chance of repeating as stanley cup champs. I think this is due to their immense amount of depth and great goaltending. However, I was curious to see what you thought about it. Do you think the bruins will repeat? Who do you think will be their biggest contender.
